So Weird (1999-2001) follows a girl named Fiona ‘Fi’ Phillips, who travels with her rock star mom, Molly, her brother Jack, and their friends, Ned, Irene and Clu. Fi has an obsession with all things supernatural, from ghosts to aliens to trolls, all of which she investigates with the help of her laptop, where she also keeps a blog titled So Weird to document her strange encounters. As her search for the mysterious goes deeper, she begins to learn things about herself and, more importantly, about her dead father. In season 3, Fiona leaves the road behind, which allows us to meet Annie Thelen, a musician and friend of the family who continues Fiona’s quest for the paranormal at Fi’s insistence. Annie is followed around by a mysterious spirit guide, a panther, for reasons unknown to her.

The show was described as The X-Files for kids, but I think it’s like the more recent cult show Supernatural. It’s much darker than any other Disney show that’s been produced and is geniunely scary. So Weird is a real gem that stands out from all other children’s TV shows, so If you’ve never seen it, do yourself a favor and follow the links below. If you loved it as a kid, reintroduce yourself! It’s just as enjoyable now as it was then.
